Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization, or PEARS, is an advanced training for medical professionals for emergency treatment and evaluation of critically ill pediatric and infant patients. Our PEARS training will give healthcare providers the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to severely ill children and infants.
The AHA Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization training teaches medical providers the necessary skills needed for emergency medical care of critically ill children and infants.
Our PEARS course is ideal for physicians, nurses, EMTs, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other healthcare providers who work in settings where they care for children and infants. We emphasize teamwork among care teams for optimal outcomes, and debriefing as a team after an emergency response.
The PEARS training will teach medical providers how to recognize respiratory distress, shock and cardiac arrest. Our course will focus on the recognition of these critical illnesses and how to provide appropriate lifesaving interventions quickly and efficiently, until the child is stabilized and transferred to an advanced life support provider. Rapid response to life threatening illnesses can make all the difference.
Our goal of PEARS training is to give medical providers life saving skills, to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children and infants, resulting in improved outcomes. Our class format includes classroom lecture, small group learning stations, practical skills testing and a written exam.
Prior to taking the PEARS course, it is strongly recommended that students first complete the BLS training for children and infants and are proficient with their skills in CPR and automated external defibrillator, AED, use.
Students who successfully complete the PEARS training will an AHA PEARS provider course completion card, valid for 2 years.
